Wheely Makes Referral Promos a Snap with Branch

Wheely, a Moscow-based mobile app offering luxury chauffeur services, needed a frictionless referral experience: users were dropping off when asked to manually enter promo codes during onboarding, and the team couldn’t track where referred users originated. To keep referrals simple and preserve engagement and retention, Wheely required links that would carry a discount code through install or apply it if the app was already installed.

By implementing Branch deferred deep links, Wheely automatically imports promo codes through the app store install flow and pre-populates discounts, eliminating manual entry and improving attribution versus basic promo-code metrics. The change drove an 8x increase in install rate compared to other traditional marketing channels and delivered 160% more app installs than their top advertising channel, Instagram — a result Wheely’s Mobile Product Manager called the best deferred deep linking solution in the industry.
