TBS and TNT, Turner Broadcasting networks with popular on-demand mobile apps, faced a fragmented mobile landscape where web and social traffic couldn’t reliably be routed to the right in-app content — or tracked across install — limiting acquisition and engagement. They needed a way to convert low-cost mobile web and social visits into engaged app users while measuring the true value of pre-install touchpoints.
Using Branch’s deferred deep links, Journeys smart banners and People-Based/Universal Ads attribution, Turner created device-aware, web-to-app and social-to-app flows that send existing users straight to content and new users through the store into the right in-app destination. The result: view-to-install rates improved dramatically — 10x for TBS and 8.7x for TNT versus static smart banners — plus unified cross-platform attribution to optimize paid and organic acquisition.
