How QR codes and a pub drove an 85% lift in installs

KFC UK wanted to drive awareness and adoption of its new home delivery service and mobile app as delivery became an increasingly important channel. The challenge was to stand out and convince customers to install and use the app for convenient, speedy orders across a competitive and fast-growing market.

KFC created a one-week pop-up pub takeover, "The Colonel’s Arms," using KFC-branded signage and Branch-powered QR codes placed throughout the space to send people to the app store and then directly into the app after install. The campaign generated major press coverage, about 1,000 scans and opens in the first days, and an 85% uplift in installs—the strongest QR-code results KFC had seen, with thousands of online mentions and measurable in-app conversions via the Branch dashboard.
