GigTown rethinks social sharing with Branch

GigTown is a local show and music discovery app that connects rising musicians with nearby fans via artist profiles, show listings, and booking. Facing a crowded discovery market, GigTown needed a way for artists to cut through the noise, increase direct fan engagement, and drive more social sharing and referrals across devices.

GigTown integrated Branch deep links and the Branch Referrals feature to create cross-platform, shareable links that route users directly to artist profiles or show pages, skip login post-install, and automatically credit referrers for unique downloads (the “Dollars for Downloads” campaign). The result: 41% higher 1-day retention, 33% higher 1-week retention for users who came from artist-shared deep links, and referred users were 6.5x more likely to share the app.
