Dailymotion Unlocks Higher Engagement & Retention Rates

Dailymotion, the video-sharing platform, wanted to convert high mobile web traffic into retained native-app users but found mobile-web sessions were short and existing deep-linking (Universal Links) often failed to send users into the app. The challenge was to create a seamless web-to-app path that routed users to the exact video they were viewing and improved retention and engagement without adding friction to the install flow.

Using Branch’s Journeys smart banners and deferred deep linking, Dailymotion routed visitors straight into the correct in-app video whether they already had the app or installed it during the flow, while A/B testing and personalizing banners. The result was a jump in app growth (the mobile web became their largest single channel for installs) plus a 71% increase in 30-day user retention and a 28% rise in active days per month.
