University of Colorado Hospital - Customer Case Study

The University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, a top teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Colorado School of Medicine, needed to simplify complex 24/7 staff scheduling for a 40–50 person ancillary health team working 12‑hour shifts. Prior to implementation, scheduling was paper‑based and slow, relying on clipboards and legacy mobile systems that were hard to log into; the hospital selected Branch and its Branch Messenger tools (Shift Swap, Time‑Off Requests, Schedule Reminders, Availability, Instant Messaging, Group Messaging) to address those challenges.

Branch implemented its Messenger features so managers could post open shifts for self‑selection, handle availability and time‑off requests, and support instant/group messaging. As a result, Branch helped Keisha Mathes’s team post over 1,900 open shifts, eliminated much of the paperwork and login pain, streamlined communication and schedule visibility, and freed staff to focus more on patient care — with the department now considering broader adoption across the hospital.
