Doctors Hospital at Renaissance (DHR), a health system serving a predominantly Hispanic population in Texas, faced significant challenges in standardizing cognitive assessment for its neurology patients. Limited access to neuropsychological services and the operational limitations of paper-based screening tools hindered their ability to effectively monitor cognitive decline in patients with conditions like multiple sclerosis (MS). BrainCheck implemented its digital cognitive assessment tool, BrainCheck Assess, which is administered on an iPad and available in Spanish. This solution provided a standardized, multi-domain cognitive evaluation that could be used across various patient populations, including MS, Parkinson's, and dementia. The results included the completion of over 1,000 assessments in a single year, the establishment of a practical baseline and annual monitoring protocol, and a enhanced ability to detect cognitive progression independent of relapse activity. BrainCheck enabled the practice to achieve practice-wide standardization and more effectively monitor patient cognitive health over time.
