SAIL Outdoors reduces carbon footprint of store operations with AI

SAIL Outdoors, a Canadian retailer of outdoor clothing and gear, faced the challenge of reducing the carbon footprint of its large store operations across Québec and Ontario, each averaging about 61,000 sq. ft. To tackle HVAC-related emissions from rooftop units, SAIL Outdoors partnered with BrainBox AI and deployed an AI-powered HVAC optimization solution.

BrainBox AI’s autonomous control was rolled out in three of SAIL Outdoors’ twelve locations, delivering measurable energy and emissions cuts: an overall ≈23% reduction in HVAC electricity, 44% reduction in HVAC gas, and a 40% reduction in carbon equivalency (about 8 tCO2eq avoided). Per-store results included Store 1: Electricity -18%, Gas -44%, Carbon -40%; Store 2: Electricity -40%, Carbon -42%; Store 3: Electricity -8%, Carbon -1%.
