Dollar Tree, a Fortune 500 small-box retailer operating over 16,000 stores, needed a scalable way to cut energy use and meet its commitment to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2032 without disrupting operations. To test a flexible retrofit approach, Dollar Tree piloted BrainBox AI’s autonomous AI HVAC Optimization solution across 600 stores (6.6M sq. ft.), leveraging existing RTUs and building management data.

BrainBox AI rapidly integrated its solution—bringing 400 sites live within two months—using on‑premises servers plus cloud connectivity and external data like weather to autonomously optimize HVAC runtimes. The deployment delivered measurable impact: 7,980,916 kWh saved, $1,028,159 in electricity cost savings, and a 5,632 tCO2eq reduction in one year, fewer technician dispatches, and expansion to more than 2,000 additional Dollar Tree stores.
