A BPM-D Case Study
A global biotechnology company sought to improve its new product development process to increase efficiency, reduce cycle times, and better predict time-to-market. However, they lacked the internal capability to analyze their complex as-is processes and identify necessary improvements. They engaged the vendor BPM-D to help them develop a clearly defined and consistent innovation process across its marketing, R&D, finance, and operations units.
BPM-D captured the existing processes, identified pain points and opportunities, and designed a new to-be innovation process. The results included documenting 14 as-is processes, uncovering 44 pain points and 19 improvement opportunities, and establishing a uniform collaboration hub for greater visibility. The project delivered a process handbook and a realization roadmap that targeted increased business value and predictability for getting products to market faster.
