Severn Trent Water - Customer Case Study

Severn Trent Water, which serves more than 4.3 million homes and businesses and manages 94,000 km of sewers, was facing roughly 55,000 blockages a year that cost nearly £10 million to clear. To detect potential blockages it deployed over 4,000 IoT telemetry devices and engaged IBM for real-time analytics — and brought in BP3 Global to help turn the incoming data into actionable insight.

BP3 Global worked with IBM and Severn Trent Water in a focused three‑month engagement beginning January 2016 to combine flow telemetry with rainfall data and implement real‑time analytics and decision logic. The solution lets Severn Trent proactively respond to emerging conditions and avoid pollution events; BP3 Global’s collaboration delivered a novel, operationally effective capability that improved situational awareness and reduced the risk (and potential cost) associated with sewer blockages.
