Edinburgh Airport delivers a software defined network in hours, not days with boxxe

Edinburgh Airport, the busiest airport in Scotland, faced a challenge with its outdated and complex IT infrastructure. As passenger numbers grew rapidly, the existing network struggled with service provision for its many third-party tenants, causing delays due to manual processes and hardware constraints. The airport partnered with boxxe to modernize its service delivery with a Software Defined Network (SDN).

boxxe implemented a centralized and secured campus-wide SDN. This solution allowed IT services to be updated efficiently and enabled the airport to deploy third-party integrations in hours instead of days. The project, delivered despite a six-month pandemic pause, resulted in improved operational agility and created a new opportunity for the airport to monetize its network by offering Wi-Fi services to third parties. Following the project's success, boxxe was further engaged as the airport's managed service provider.
