How To Build A Student Broadcast Program [Saint Ignatius High School]

Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland faced the problem that its athletic events couldn’t be heard or seen beyond the gym, limiting alumni and community engagement. Alumni Brendan Gulick and staffer Jeff McCormick built a student-run broadcast program and, to move from audio to reliable live video, adopted BoxCast’s high-definition streaming service.

With BoxCast, the Saint Ignatius Broadcast Network (SIBN) scaled into the largest student-operated high school sports broadcaster in Ohio, covering nearly 100 events a year across seven sports, announcing six OHSAA state championship games and an ESPN Rise national championship, and drawing more than 66,000 viewers in 2015. BoxCast’s ease of use and HD quality enabled broader community reach, stronger student training, and helped launch alumni into collegiate and professional broadcasting careers.
