Team Rubicon is a veteran-led nonprofit that mobilizes military veterans and first responders to respond to disasters; when Hurricane Florence struck the Southeast—causing billions in damage and displacing thousands—Team Rubicon faced the urgent challenge of rapidly coordinating volunteers, logistics, and recovery efforts across a wide area while managing ongoing long-term recovery from prior storms.

To meet that challenge they leveraged Box to standardize processes and enable real-time coordination, collaboration, and operationalization—planning FOB locations, organizing volunteer onboarding (300+ on the Florence response), and sharing media. The result was faster, more cost-effective deployments, smoother volunteer management, and improved ability to sustain marathon recovery efforts while scaling impact across the nonprofit sector.
