Case Study: Oxfam International achieves faster, location-agnostic humanitarian response with Box

A Box Case Study

Oxfam International - Customer Case Study

Oxfam International, a 70‑year‑old confederation of NGOs working in 90+ countries with 19 affiliates, 10,000 employees and tens of thousands of volunteers, faced the challenge of unifying disparate systems and enabling rapid, reliable information access during large‑scale humanitarian responses. Different technology stacks and limited file‑server access made it hard for field teams and partners to get the right documents quickly in emergency situations.

Oxfam moved to a cloud‑first stack—using Okta for single identity, Workplace by Facebook for connectivity, and Box for cloud content management—giving staff and volunteers predictable, location‑agnostic access (including offline) to mission‑critical briefings and protocols. The change made deployments faster and more efficient (Michael Duggan carries 41 TB of Oxfam content via Box), simplified folder setup for nontechnical responders, and improved collaboration with partner NGOs while prioritizing ethical technology partnerships.
