United Talent Agency (UTA), a longtime Hollywood powerhouse that has grown from a traditional talent agency into a full-service entertainment company, needed to support hundreds of employees and complex, distributed workflows while modernizing legacy on‑premises systems. CIO Michael Keithley faced the challenge of enabling secure, compliant, work‑from‑anywhere collaboration and building an IT architecture that could pivot quickly for new products, business models and acquisitions—long before the COVID‑19 disruption.
Keithley led an aggressive cloud-first move to best‑of‑breed SaaS and cloud identity/access tools, standardizing content and collaboration in Box alongside apps like Workday, Slack, Zoom and Salesforce, and adopting four cloud‑migration anchors. The result was a seamless shift to remote work during the pandemic, continuous compliance across geographies, and a more agile platform that speeds integration, product delivery and day‑to‑day collaboration.
