Governing from the Cloud The City of Columbia Elects Box

The City of Columbia, MO, a recent winner of the Box Mobile Giveaway, needed a simple, secure way for multiple departments—Neighborhood Services, Animal Control, Law Enforcement and others—to access and share documents while working in the field. Many employees had limited experience with smartphones and relied on bulky binders or laptops, creating delays and extra trips back to the office.

The city deployed Box with Samsung Galaxy Tabs to share work plans, photos and documents between office and field staff, enabling instant updates and on-the-spot access to files. Within weeks the solution improved mobility and efficiency, reduced return trips to headquarters, and was quickly adopted by employees—prompting positive feedback from IT Director Robert Simms about the fast, tangible change.
