A Box Case Study
Duquesne University, a private higher-education institution with nearly 42 terabytes of content and more than 8,000 students, needed a better way to protect sensitive data while improving collaboration across faculty, staff, and outside partners. Its IT team, led by CISO Tom Dugas, turned to Box to address security, compliance, and a risk-averse legacy sharing culture.
Using Box Shield, Box Governance, and Intelligent Content Management, Box helped Duquesne automatically classify content, control access, and support secure sharing across departments and campuses while meeting regulations like FERPA, HIPAA, and GDPR. The results included file recovery time dropping from up to 10 days to under 20 seconds, and nearly 10,000 people now use Box at the university, improving both productivity and security.
