American Homes 4 Rent, a large single-family rental operator managing about 58,000 properties across 22 states, needed a better way to centralize and secure leases, HOA documents, contracts, and other unstructured content that had been scattered across multiple tools. The company wanted to improve the resident experience while reducing shadow IT and gaining a single view of its critical documents.

Box worked with American Homes 4 Rent and Box Consulting to build API-based portals and content workflows on Box Intelligent Content Management, including resident, lease, and vendor portals. The rollout took just six months, and with Box Governance and Box Shield, American Homes 4 Rent says it now protects 95% of its unstructured data on a secure platform, while improving visibility and setting the stage for faster e-signatures with Box Sign.
