A Borland Case Study
McAfee’s Web Services team, responsible for its SaaS and eCommerce platforms, was struggling with Microsoft Visual SourceSafe in a fast-moving .NET environment — managing hundreds of releases per quarter, frequent emergency patches, and a distributed team across five locations. The move to Agile/Scrum-like sprints exposed severe branching, merging and visibility problems that limited parallel development and made onboarding offshore developers difficult.
By adopting Micro Focus AccuRev’s stream-based SCCM, McAfee integrated version control with build and release processes, improved branching/merging, and gained clear cross-site visibility via the StreamBrowser GUI. The team scaled from about 10–12 concurrent projects to more than 30, added 40+ offshore developers easily, reduced redundant steps, accelerated time-to-market and realized roughly US$500,000 in annual savings.
