A Boost Case Study
Digital Pasifik, an initiative to make Pacific cultural heritage more accessible, faced the challenge of connecting people with materials held in dispersed global institutions without centralizing control or displacing the authority of local organizations. The vendor Boost was engaged, using its data aggregation software Supplejack, to design a platform that would respect institutional ownership and enable Pacific communities to discover and contribute to their heritage.
Boost implemented a solution shaped through extensive Pacific co-design, resulting in a platform that aggregates metadata without storing the physical records. Key features included user contribution fields to add cultural context, icon-led design for accessibility, and dedicated partner pages to highlight Pacific-based institutions. The solution successfully increased the visibility of collections and reconnected heritage items with contemporary knowledge and lived experience, creating a bridge for communities rather than a centralized repository.
