A Booqable Case Study
UTwente BMS Lab at the University of Twente needed a better way to manage its growing equipment inventory. The lab was relying on spreadsheets and manual forms, which made it difficult to track availability, ownership, and value of items like laptops, tablets, VR gear, and cameras. With students and researchers constantly requesting equipment, the process had become too complex and inefficient.
Booqable provided a centralized rental-style system for inventory management, online bookings, reports, equipment tracking, and order tracking. The lab used Booqable to let users submit project and equipment requests through a booking portal, while staff could also handle manual entries when needed and label assets with barcodes. According to Joris van Gend, the system saved colleagues a few hours per week, improved tracking and purchasing decisions, and helped the lab stay operational during COVID restrictions.
