The University of Edinburgh Revolutionizes Neurological Care With Voice Biomarkers

The University of Edinburgh, through the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic, needed a scalable way to collect and combine clinical and voice data for neurological research. Working with Boomi, the team aimed to speed up diagnosis and monitoring for conditions such as motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s, while making the process secure and easy to use for patients and researchers.

Boomi provided a low-code integration and automation platform, including the Boomi Enterprise Platform and Boomi Flow, to prototype and deploy a secure voice data collection app and connect it with existing systems. As a result, the university built a clinically annotated voice dataset from more than 800 participants, enabling development of predictive voice biomarkers and giving clinical and analytics teams secure access for machine learning, analytics, and patient care.
