St. Edward’s University’s Drive for Pervasive Connectivity and Efficiency Through Integration

St. Edward’s University, a private Catholic school in Austin serving about 4,000 undergraduates, faced sudden campus closures, budget cuts and a lean IT team when COVID-19 hit. The university needed to pivot quickly to remote admissions, instruction and student engagement, which required faster, more pervasive integration between Banner (its ERP) and multiple vendor systems as well as new tools like Salesforce Advisor Link.

Using the Boomi AtomSphere low-code platform—already in use since 2017—IT replaced brittle Perl scripts and rapidly built integrations to sync systems and move critical data. In one example, the team automated importing nearly 10,000 admissions records into Banner in two weeks, saving many hours of manual entry. The result: faster processes, better data flow for refunds, admissions and orientation, improved operational resilience, and accelerated digital transformation to help stabilize tuition revenue.
