A Boomi Case Study
Scottish Water, the publicly owned utility supplying drinking water and wastewater services across Scotland to about 2.6 million customers, needed a modern integration approach to support hundreds of sites and a move from on‑premises to cloud applications. Its legacy integration platforms were limited to on‑prem systems, so the organisation required a hybrid iPaaS to enable its digital transformation and improve operational communication and agility.
Scottish Water chose the Boomi AtomSphere Platform, implemented with Capgemini, to consolidate and rebuild integrations—ultimately migrating roughly 900 integration processes, replacing about 600 legacy integrations and decommissioning ~1,000 inactive processes. The move delivered substantial cost savings, faster turnaround for new integrations (weeks to days), improved data quality and compliance (including faster LIMS responses), and reduced maintenance time, freeing IT to focus on innovation.
