PTC, a leading industrial software company undergoing a five-year digital transformation to move products from perpetual to subscription and cloud models, needed to make legacy back-end systems accessible via APIs, unwind dependence on a monolithic ERP, and adopt a flexible integration platform without a risky rip-and-replace. Aging middleware and technical debt made integrations slow, costly, and security-sensitive, and PTC required an API management solution to expose new digital services internally and externally.

After a successful proof of concept, PTC chose the Boomi AtomSphere Platform (Integration, API Management, and Boomi Flow) to build an API-first architecture. The company created 60 reusable APIs, launched TRACE (an internal transaction-tracing portal), and established a foundation for ERP modernization—cutting API development from six–eight weeks to two (a 75% reduction), increasing IT capacity, improving security, and removing integration as a barrier to its digital transformation.
