Managing Explosive Growth, Aegion Taps the Boomi AtomSphere Platform to Streamline Hundreds of Integrations

Aegion, a pipeline construction and infrastructure services company (headquartered in Chesterfield, MO; 6,200 employees; $808M FY’20), was struggling with more than 300 point-to-point integrations from acquired technologies. Maintaining those integrations forced frequent reliance on external vendors, drove up costs, and slowed responses to business needs, so Aegion set out to build in-house integration capability and evaluated platforms—ultimately selecting the Boomi AtomSphere Platform.

Partnering with Boomi Professional Services, Aegion went live with its first major integration (InEight) in April 2020 and centralized integration on Boomi, enabling staff training, certifications, and a culture shift toward self-sufficiency. The move has increased integration requests, reduced dependence on legacy vendors, and set the company up to migrate 300+ integrations to Boomi for lower costs, faster time to market, better process visibility, and future master data management via Boomi Master Data Hub.
