digitalAngel, a Dutch start-up and subsidiary of medical supplier Medux, set out to build an open IoT healthcare platform to connect sensor-driven devices, mobile and wearable technologies and securely share data to automate tasks and improve patient care. The company faced the challenge of integrating disparate devices, applications and databases at massive scale while meeting stringent European medical-device security and reliability standards, so it engaged Nalta Group, which recommended Boomi’s low-code integration platform.

Using Boomi, digitalAngel quickly unified device, data and application flows—linking Salesforce Identity Cloud, a custom portal, a primary sensor database and the IoT gateway—while supporting separate development, test and production environments from a single codebase. The smart-mattress pilot in care homes proved the concept across Europe, cutting integration time from months to hours or days and delivering scalable, secure integration, robust APIs, data governance and faster, more reliable operations.
