Boomi Helps Norway’s Stavanger Kommune Streamline Its IoT-Powered Waste Management Operations

Stavanger kommune, Norway’s fourth-largest municipality, operates an IoT-driven waste collection system with 3,000 solar-powered underground containers and a fleet of 11 trucks serving half a million people across eight municipalities. Fragmented data across multiple local and cloud systems, manual processes, and inconsistent records made it difficult to coordinate routes, schedule timely pickups, and maintain efficient, environmentally responsible service.

With implementation partner Fieldata, Stavanger adopted the Boomi low-code integration platform to unify sensor, access-control and back-office data, linking buried-container sensors to drivers’ tablets and a resident web portal. The solution created a single admin portal and automated service orders, reduced manual errors, saved about 24 workdays per year, lowered CO2 emissions, and provided a scalable IT foundation for future growth.
