Operation Recovery, a nonprofit built by veterans and first responders, faced an immense challenge coordinating evacuations and aid during the Afghanistan withdrawal. Their volunteers struggled with fragmented data across spreadsheets and messages, significant security risks, language barriers, and severe staff strain, all of which threatened their lifesaving mission. Bonterra implemented its Apricot platform, providing a secure, unified system with custom multilingual intake forms and role-based access. This solution centralized data management and enabled collaboration for over 150 volunteers. As a result, Operation Recovery coordinated nine evacuation flights, connected over 1,100 individuals to relocation teams, and delivered aid to more than 8,000 people in just three months, while significantly reducing volunteer burnout.
