The National Audubon Society partnered with Bonterra, using its Fundraising and Engagement platform, to address the challenge of increasing its long-term sustainable fundraising. While successful with short-term campaigns, Audubon sought to grow its monthly sustainer donor program beyond its historically small scale reliant on telemarketing and canvassing.
Bonterra implemented a digital, sustainer-first strategy for Audubon. The solution utilized Bonterra's FastAction network for one-click donations, an automatic credit card updater to reduce lapses, and an annual auto-renewal button. This dramatically improved first-year donor retention to triple the industry average. As a key result, Audubon acquired over 2,000 new sustainers in one month and saw its sustainer-first GivingTuesday campaign break even in just three months, setting the stage for continued growth.
