Our Little Roses is a residential home in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, serving girls rescued from abuse, abandonment and extreme poverty. When new Executive Director Cheryl Chapman arrived, she identified a pressing need to improve the charity’s online giving capability and run its first-ever #GivingTuesday campaign despite not being a professional fundraiser; the organization focused on board activation and email outreach to meet that challenge.

Following Network for Good’s best-practice recommendations, OLR engaged its board starting Thanksgiving week, sent two targeted emails on #GivingTuesday, and promoted its leaderboard on Facebook—efforts that energized supporters and led to an unsolicited full-match pledge. The campaign raised $21,925 from 30 donors, placed OLR in the top ten among Network for Good organizations, and earned recognition as a 2014 staff pick and Rookie of the Year.
