Harding University, a liberal arts college in Arkansas with about 6,075 students from 49 states and 44 countries, wanted to test a campus-wide giving day. The development team launched the “24K In A Day” campaign on #GivingTuesday to explore whether a concentrated day of appeals could drive donations and engagement.
They combined five targeted email appeals, social-media contests using #HardingUnites, a video message from the president, hourly posts on #GivingTuesday, and an on-campus giving area with iPads and promotional elements to spur spontaneous gifts. The effort raised $28,331 from 214 donors and earned an Honorable Mention for Most Donors in 2014.
