Collective Action for Safe Spaces - Customer Case Study

Collective Action for Safe Spaces (CASS), founded in 2009 as Holla Back D.C., is a largely volunteer-run organization with one paid staff member that mobilizes the DC area to end public sexual harassment and assault. After a hurried #GivingTuesday 2013 effort that performed well but left room for improvement, CASS aimed to run a more strategic, higher‑impact campaign for #GivingTuesday 2014.

They formed a core planning team, followed Network for Good best practices, and executed targeted tactics—weekly October messaging, donor‑list segmentation, training 12 peer fundraisers, a phone‑bank kickoff, and personalized thank‑you follow ups. The campaign raised $17,046 from 324 donors (quadrupling 2013 results), exceeded its goal by 43%, and ranked 4th among Network for Good nonprofits for number of donors.
