Xcel Energy sought to replace its manual and time-consuming grantmaking process, which required physical signatures and payment details before disbursing funds. To address this challenge, they partnered with Bonterra Giving and Matching (formerly CyberGrants) and implemented its Grants Management solution.
By utilizing Bonterra's solution, Xcel Energy created a more efficient, rules-based online workflow. This allowed grantseekers to self-select out via pre-qualification questionnaires, submit agreements electronically, and receive faster approvals. The results were significant, with Bonterra helping Xcel award $3.6 million in grants, track 33,300 volunteer hours, and fund 386 organizations, all while saving their community partners time and money.
