Missoula Gives 2020 Giving Day Case Study

Missoula County Community Foundation, the longtime organizer of Missoula Gives, faced the sudden challenge of turning their signature in-person giving day into a fully virtual event in 2020 because of COVID-19. Program Manager Nikki Robb worked with Bonterra GiveGab and its giving platform and product team to find a way to preserve community celebration and support for local nonprofits when traditional events were canceled.

Bonterra GiveGab enabled the foundation to embed a nearly 26-hour live stream on the Missoula Gives site, create editable pages and schedules, and support real-time donor engagement, all implemented rapidly with the vendor’s project manager. The pivot paid off: Missoula Gives 2020 raised $811,294 from 3,447 donors for 138 nonprofits (doubling year-over-year and reflecting 169% growth since 2017), with organizations averaging 16 new donors — clear evidence of increased reach and engagement powered by Bonterra GiveGab.
