A Bonterra CyberGrants Case Study
Johnson & Johnson’s Global Community Impact team needed to rapidly pivot employee volunteer programs to virtual formats when the COVID‑19 pandemic disrupted in‑person activities. To preserve partner outcomes and assess shifting employee capacity, Johnson & Johnson partnered with Bonterra CyberGrants and used its volunteerism platform—adding partner submission and automation features—to re-evaluate programming and enable a faster transition to remote volunteering.
Bonterra CyberGrants implemented a feature that let NGO and nonprofit partners submit opportunities directly and automated communications, accelerating the creation and rollout of flexible, shorter virtual volunteer options. That platform-enabled approach allowed Johnson & Johnson to pilot and scale creative initiatives (e.g., Back the Front-line videos, Words With Friends tournaments, Notes of Encouragement), sustaining employee engagement and maintaining nonprofit impact during the shift to virtual volunteering.
