Levi Strauss Foundation responds to issues affecting marginalized and disenfranchised communities

Levi Strauss & Co.’s corporate foundation, the Levi Strauss Foundation, needed to respond rapidly to crises affecting marginalized communities—particularly voter access and COVID-19—while minimizing administrative burden so more grant dollars reach nonprofits. To do this, the Foundation partnered with Bonterra CyberGrants, using CyberGrants Disbursements Solutions to streamline grantmaking, speed payments and improve communication with grantees.

Bonterra CyberGrants implemented its Disbursements Solutions to automate workflows and simplify fund flows, enabling predictable but flexible disbursements that reduced administrative overhead and saved time. As a result, Levi Strauss & Co. ensured that more than 97% of philanthropy dollars are available to nonprofit partners, allocated over $1.0 million for voter access and $2.0 million in COVID-19 responsive grants (including an initial round of 15+ grants), and accelerated funding to organizations serving the most vulnerable.
