The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, a data-driven philanthropy focused on improving outcomes for children in urban poverty, faced a reporting challenge: grantees could not enter performance data directly into the foundation’s system, producing inconsistent, unstructured reports that were time-consuming to compile and left the foundation with a backlog of data that wasn’t actionable.

The foundation implemented Social Solutions’ Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) platform so grantees could input standardized metrics directly, streamline reporting, and enable longitudinal analysis. Early results include faster report production (often reduced from six hours to one or less), seven grantees actively reporting through ETO, improved data consistency and insights to guide investments, batch upload options for partial adopters, and strengthened grantee capacity and data culture with plans to expand and integrate additional funders.
