A Bonterra Apricot Case Study
Local Investment Commission (LINC) is a Kansas City nonprofit founded in 1992 to coordinate services across schools, nonprofits, businesses, and government to support low‑income families and children through neighborhood “Caring Communities.” While LINC established valuable partnerships and programs, its work was hampered by scattered paper records and spreadsheets, duplicated data entry, and limited visibility across sites—making collaboration, reporting, and measuring impact difficult.
In 2015 LINC implemented Apricot to centralize client and program data, giving staff real‑time visibility into activities at all Caring Community sites. The system reduced administrative duplication, freed staff for direct service, improved reporting to funders, and enabled data‑driven initiatives (like reducing school transfer absenteeism). Today LINC supports 87 Caring Community sites across seven school districts, added 320 Apricot users in FY2015–16, and uses centralized data to scale and measure its impact.
