Facilitating Handoff off a System Managed with Multiple Information Systems and Individual Expertise

The National Maritime Agency faced a complex multi-year effort to outsource deployment and lifecycle management of coastal buoys and needed to capture decades of tacit, people-based knowledge into formal processes. To document commissioning, QA, materiel requests, scheduling, decommissioning and to preserve existing systems, the agency required a BPM solution that could connect MAXIMO, the SIPA buoy system and the Marinfo mariners’ system — Bonitasoft’s Bonita platform and its connectors were chosen to meet that need.

Bonitasoft implemented a business process management flow using the Bonita platform and connectors to integrate the agency’s databases and guide contractors through every operational phase. The result: clear, real-time visibility of each buoy’s commissioning state, improved reporting and inventory management, faster identification and correction of issues, and anticipated cost savings with better materiel decisions and seasonal forecasting.
