Digital transformation of analytical processes in drug discovery allows researchers to focus on science

Bristol Myers Squibb faced a logistics bottleneck in its analytical chemistry labs: paper-based inter‑lab requests, hand‑drawn chemical structures, unreadable or incomplete forms, and siloed LIMS created a manual, error‑prone process that struggled to handle 500+ daily requests. To modernize workflows they evaluated BPM and engaged Bonitasoft, using the Bonita BPM platform to show how BPM could integrate with domain LIMS and replace manual spreadsheets and ad‑hoc processes.

Bonitasoft delivered a Bonita‑based solution—validated by a proof‑of‑concept—and integrated inter‑lab workflow applications with Perkin Elmer Electronic Lab Notebook, Mosiac LIMS, and Biovia LIMS. The outcome: five Bonita applications in production used by 1,400 users across the US and India, processing over 600 daily requests, virtually eliminating missing‑information errors, saving the equivalent of five FTEs, improving transparency and metrics, and enabling expansion into Biologics, Veterinary Sciences, Histology and High Throughput Screening.
