The National Government Hydrographic Office, responsible for issuing timely, accurate Notices to Mariners to keep national waters safe, was hampered by a complex, manual spreadsheet‑based desktop‑publishing workflow that caused delays, inconsistencies and heavy operational overhead. To automate NtM production and better leverage existing geospatial data, they engaged Bonitasoft and its Bonita platform to modernize and digitize their processes.

Bonitasoft implemented a Workflow Management System on the Bonita platform integrated with a Geospatial Publications Module, replacing manual data entry with automated digital harvesting. The solution improved production efficiency and traceability, delivered more output with less labor, increased consistency and reliability of Notices to Mariners, enabled faster and immediate urgent notifications, reduced manual rework, and supported better resource decision‑making — outcomes that helped protect life at sea and earned recognition in the 2018 WfMC Awards.
