Assuring Patient Notification and FollowUp for Effective Cancer Screenings

Sescam, the health service of Castilla‑La Mancha, needed a flexible, process‑based solution to coordinate multi‑step colon cancer screening across many agents and disparate systems (Turriano, MXX, Laboratory, Pathological Anatomy) and to track patient status and missed‑deadline alerts. To solve this, Sescam worked with Bonitasoft, deploying the Bonita platform to orchestrate the end‑to‑end screening process without changing the existing clinical applications.

Bonitasoft’s Bonita connects the different systems, manages each milestone, records all information in the patient history, and provides status indicators, listings and alarms while keeping professionals on their familiar tools. As a result, the procedure is now unified across Sescam and—using Bonitasoft—14,669 individuals were invited to screening, 4,680 agreed to participate, 4,583 lab results were returned and 51 colonoscopies found significant results.
