juwi, founded in 1996, is a global developer of renewable-energy projects—solar, wind, bio-energy, hydropower and geothermal—with about 1,750 employees in 15 countries. Because its performance is highly exposed to differing national policies and rapid sector shifts, juwi needed a clear, up-to-date, group-wide view of operating results; Excel spreadsheets were no longer sufficient and the company required a planning and controlling tool that non-IT staff could manage and that could write plans back into source systems.
juwi implemented the BOARD toolkit as its central planning and information platform, now used by 220 people across 88 companies. BOARD consolidated financial, project and personnel planning (including rolling forecasts, multi-currency conversion and a paperless position-approval workflow), links to source systems (MS Dynamics AX, SAGE, LiquiBase) and allows controllers to build applications themselves. The result: faster, transparent decision-making, significant time savings, automated write-back to source systems, and the ability to react quickly to policy changes while maintaining integrated, company-wide planning.
