Harry & David, the long-established gourmet gift retailer (founded 1934, $648M revenue, ~8,000 employees), faced heavy reliance on manual, spreadsheet-based finance processes and a new general ledger that lacked needed reporting capabilities. Consolidating multiple Excel files for month‑ and year‑end reporting and running department forecasts was time-consuming and error-prone, with forecast cycles taking up to one and a half weeks.
The company implemented the Board decision‑making platform to unify BI, planning, and predictive analytics, loading the general ledger into a single database and enabling self‑service, drag‑and‑drop reporting and drill‑downs (including payroll and headcount insights). Forecast cycles were reduced by about 75% (from ~1.5 weeks to two days or less), reporting accuracy and flexibility improved, and the solution has since been extended to Sales, Marketing, and Inventory.
