Case Study: Brenntag achieves major time savings and consolidated, transparent financial reporting with the Board Intelligent Planning Platform

A Board Case Study

Preview of the Brenntag Case Study

Replacing legacy systems to increase efficiency and deliver greater transparency of performance

Brenntag, a global chemical distributor with €12.8 billion in revenue, 17,500 employees and operations in 77 countries, faced an urgent need to replace its end‑of‑life financial consolidation and reporting tools. Budgeting was managed largely in Excel and reporting ran across four disparate consolidation systems, creating slow, opaque processes and limited visibility into key metrics.

Brenntag implemented the Board Intelligent Planning Platform (with support from Simpson Associates) to consolidate systems into a single, flexible solution that delivers unified data and KPIs with drill‑through capabilities. The change eliminated a full day from quarterly reporting, enabled simultaneous work across the business, improved transport‑cost and P&L transparency, and boosted user confidence and self‑service planning—providing a future‑proof reporting environment.
