New York City based nonprofit chooses Board for accurate budgeting

City Harvest is New York City’s largest food rescue nonprofit, helping about 1.2 million residents access nutritious food and rescuing roughly 64 million pounds of food in 2019. Facing an ambitious growth plan, the organization struggled with a manual, spreadsheet-driven budgeting process (nearly 200 Excel files), missed timelines, inconsistent data sources, high staff time on budgeting, and a need for standardized tools and training.

After evaluating several vendors, City Harvest implemented Board (with partner Corporate Renaissance Group) to create a single source of financial and operational data and replace disparate spreadsheets. The platform automated reporting and budgeting tasks, gave managers direct access to timely reports, improved budget participation and accuracy, and shortened the budget cycle by 20 days; the organization now plans to integrate additional financial data into Board.
