Laita - Customer Case Study

LAITA is a cooperative dairy group that collects milk from 3,560 farms and employs 2,500 people across seven industrial sites and more than 110 countries. Its multi-company, multi-process and multi-product activity (now spanning 13 legal entities) created a complex analytical structure, but management accounting and budgeting were largely done entity-by-entity in Excel. That reliance on spreadsheets weakened audit trails, created file-ownership dependencies and made it hard to harmonise analytical rules, so LAITA set out to simplify and standardise its management accounting while adding simulation and budgeting capabilities.

LAITA chose the BOARD platform, already used successfully in Commercial Management, with an implementation partner to extend the solution across Industry and Finance. BOARD integrated multiple data sources, improved traceability and calculation accuracy, cut 2–3 days from monthly closing by eliminating re-entry, and sped up report production for new users. The project aligned analytical structures, consolidated the operating result for cross-analysis, reduced duplicated information and shifted Management Control toward higher-value tasks like alerts, performance levers, forecasting and pricing — while keeping a flexible, scalable model for future products and processes.
