A Board Case Study
NEC Display Solutions Europe GmbH, the Munich‑based EMEA headquarters of a global display and projector leader, faced growing pressure to make its complex planning and supply‑chain processes more reliable and collaborative. Their Excel‑based approach was flexible but caused data inconsistency, security and consolidation problems and could not support a standardized, group‑wide planning model (PLATO) that reconciled European and Japanese processes, daily procurement needs and a single point of truth.
Following a proof‑of‑concept, NEC implemented the BOARD BI platform with partner DMC to replace Excel with a database‑backed planning and reporting system tied to SAP and daily logistics feeds. The new solution supports biweekly forecasts, six‑month procurement simulations, automatic daily uploads and supplier access, cutting manual transfers and errors, speeding rolling planning, unifying processes across regions, improving inventory optimization and bottleneck response, and delivering faster, higher‑quality reporting for management and controlling.
